Hi, everyone! I wrote a piece questioning why, when intersex people are discussed in the media, it's so often in a sensationalistic, stigmatizing, offensive way. There HAVE been more respectful articles written about intersex people and intersex issues that have been respectful, but the OH-MY-GOD-A-REAL-LIFE-INTERSEX-PERSON is still far too common.
You can check out my piece here.
One final note: I want to correct a line that was edited for the piece, focusing on Indian sprinter Dutee Chand, who's currently banned from competing in professional sports because of her naturally high testosterone levels. I have A LOT of hope that Dutee will run! Sign the petition to help ensure that she does.
Thanks, as always, for reading & acknowledging the importance of intersex issues & intersex human rights.
